FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are your hours?

We are happy to meet any time by appointment at 4012 Shoreline Drive, Wayzata, Minnesota 55384.

Where do we park?

We offer covered parking around back. From Shoreline Drive, turn north on Bayview Place and take an immediate left.

Do you ship?

Yes. We provide free delivery within 200 miles of the gallery. We ship all over the world using experts in crating and logistics like Willie Willette Works, Freight Buddy, iTransport4u and Artserve. The cost of shipping varies widely depending on size, the type of material used in the piece, and the number of pieces involved in a shipment, but we are pretty good at estimating cost.

What type of materials do you use?

I use canvas and wood substrates and a wide variety of acrylics, oils, inks, watercolors, encaustics, gold, silver, copper leafing, Asian papers, powdered pigments and resin. I also use lots of natural and found materials like sand, bark, and even exotic insects.

Who makes your wood panels?

Willy Willette Works in St. Paul, Minnesota

How long does is take to make a piece?

Good question but tough to answer. It takes many years to master some of the techniques that I use so it varies on time to complete a piece and depends on size and mediums used.

What is encaustic painting?

Encaustic is a wax-based painting medium that originated with the ancient Greeks over 3000 years ago. At the time, it was used to caulk and decorate war ships but eventually was used to create portraiture and other detailed works of art. The medium’s use declined in the first century BC when animal fats, combined with pigments, where increasingly favored by artists. The primary ingredients in encaustic paint are beeswax and a tree sap called damar resin. The combination is referred to as Encaustic Medium and it forms the base of encaustic paint. Pigments and other materials are then added to the encaustic medium to create a colorful pallete.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer short term and long term financing. Just ask.

Do you host private events?

Yes. Please use our gallery for book club meetings, business meetings or private dinners.

How friendly are you, really?

Very, really. We are a family business. Half the fun of being an artist is meeting new people, sharing art, and if we are fortunate, having an interesting conversation over a glass of Prosecco.
